Now that you know what tools are effective in getting rid of the clogs, you simply need to have patience and commitment in order to get all of the clogs out of your skin.
A clog normally takes 6 weeks to emerge as a pimple. However, a closed comedone (hard lump underneath your skin) may take up to 5 months brewing as a clog before it finally surfaces as a cyst. As such, you will need to be patient and consistent with your skincare routine in order to determine what is actually working:
Commitment
Whether it is Clearly Basics products or some other system you are using, commit to using an acne product or system for at least three months before making a decision as to whether it is effective.
If you have closed comedones, you may need to wait 5 months before these stubborn clogs finally flush out.
You will only know if an acne treatment is effective after you have finished an entire cycle (at three months). You should notice that new breakouts have decreased dramatically, otherwise it is time to move on.
Consistency
The Clearly Basics line was designed to work together. Resist the urge to throw in additional products within the three month observation period as the use of multiple acne treatments will likely cause irritation and may even trigger a new wave of breakouts.
After the second week, you should be using Clear Out Clarifying Lotion every night for the entire bottle. Clear Out will break down clogs and flush out the dead skin trapped inside your pores.
Fortitude
As the name suggests, Clear Out will force out the clogs currently trapped inside your pores. This “purging” peaks at week 5 with a second smaller peak at week 8.
It is necessary for us to get rid of these clogs if you want to get clear skin. If we kept these clogs trapped in your pores, they would surface down the road as even larger pimples.
By the end of week 10, most of the clogs that were lurking in your pores will have been flushed out and you will turn over a new layer of skin that is less acne-prone.
If you have closed comedones, these clogs operate on a completely different timescale. These clogs may take up to five months to flush out.
By the end of the first bottle of Clear Out, we will have flushed out most of the closed comedones but the stubborn/large clogs will need the additional two months before they are all out.
