What makes Clearly Basics different?
We’ve taken products that are normally sold in a dermatologist’s office at 3x the price and made it available for everyday consumers. We select medical grade (USP certified) ingredients when purity and potency matters, but less expensive cosmetic grade ingredients when quality is not a concern.
We believe in transparency and post real results from real users along with their social media handle, allowing anyone to contact and ask them about their experience. We also encourage all users to document their journey.
Why is the Clear Out different?
The Clear Out uses retinol + azelaic acid to flush out dead skin and clogs and azelaic acid + pracaxi to flatten and quickly heal (a formulation you can’t find anywhere else on the market).
Active Ingredients: Clear Out
- Retinol (medical grade) – A derivative of Vitamin A, retinoids are the primary tool that dermatologists use to clear clogs. Dr. Leyden & Dr Stein-Gold, 2017
- Flushes out dead skin: Retinol “acts on follicular keratinocytes to prevent excessive cornification and follicular blockage.” In short, it perpetually flushes out dead skin cells making it harder for clogs to form inside your pores. Dr Kraft & Dr Freiman, 2019
- Flattens bumpy skin: Dr Schmidt & Dr Gans, 2011
- Restores skin: Retinol enhances hydration and reduces the appearance of scars, fine lines and wrinkles. British Journal of Dermatology, 2010
- Boosts collagen: Study shows that retinol increases new collagen production while arresting the loss of collagen. Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan Medical School, 2007
- Azelaic Acid (medical grade) – Azelaic acid helps to calm redness, improves skin texture and tone while being less irritating than Benzyol Peroxide and equally as effective as antibiotics. Dr Gollnick & Dr Graupe, 2004
- Pracaxi Oil – This tea tree oil found in the Amazon is very effective in promoting wound healing and to soothe irritation and inflammation.
- Reduces hyperpigmentation: Teixeira et al, 2012
- Hydration: By hydrating the lesion, the skin does not need to produce extra collagen that may lead to textured scarring. Banov et al, 2014
- Keeping the surface clean: As a tea tree oil, pracaxi is effective in keeping open lesions clean. Dr Guimaraes & Dr Cunha, 2016
aqua, alcohol, azelaic acid, cetearyl alcohol, cyclomethicone, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, isopropyl myristate, PPG-3 benzyl ether ethylhexanoate, glycerine, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, pentaclethra macroloba seed oil, pentylene glycol, lecithin, retinol, polysorbate 20, potassium phosphate, methylparaben, propylparaben
Volume: 30ml, 1.01 fluid ounces. Each bottle is designed to last 3 months applied nightly.
What it does:
The Clear Out uses –
- Retinol to flush out dead skin and clear clogs.
- Azelaic acid to soothe irritation, improves uneven skin tone and brightens skin.
- Pracaxi oil to reduce the appearance of red marks or scars.
The three active ingredients have been carefully balanced to produce better results with less side effects.
What it is formulated without:
Fragrance-, colorant-, lanolin-, gluten-free and cruelty-free. This non-comedogenic formulation is freshly made in Singapore and packed in airless bottles so there are minimal preservatives.
What else you need to know:
In the first month, this formulation will trigger a purge of dead skin trapped in your pores which can appear as flakes or low level breakouts. It is necessary to flush out this dead skin which is the material that creates clogs inside the pore. During this time, the formulation will also flush out any existing microcomedones … low level acne that was already in the making inside your pore. This purge will peak at week 5 and subside after week 8 of use. At week 10, you will turn over a clearer layer of skin that is less clog prone.

@mysevereacneblog I’ve been using @clearlybasics for over 4 months but here’s a difference from June 3rd and August 2nd!
The azelaic acid and retinol in @clearlybasics Clear Out is AMAZING for hyperpigmentation.
A complete GAME CHANGER!
@brittaneyshanae I swear the Power Duo (Clear Out and Lighten Up) are a GOD-send! I’ve been using both consistently for 3 months now and my skin has NEVER looked or felt better! I haven’t experienced a breakout since March and more than 80% of my hyperpigmentation is GONE!
I’m so grateful to have finally found a product that actually works for my skin!
If you’re dealing with acne breakouts and hyperpigmentation, you should def research Clearly Basics.
@aishx I have been using this product for the last 3 months and I swear by it!
My nasty pimps went away within days, my blemish marks were lightened and the size of my pores decreased drastically! In fact I feel that my skin brightened up a lot and my makeup looked smoother too!
@xx.tonilumsden This is me 5 weeks into my skincare journey with @clearlybasics.
5 weeks ago, 5 months ago, and even 5 years ago, I had lost all hope for my skin and appearance. Now I have regained that hope and positivity because I know that I am using amazing skincare products by @clearlybasics that actually do work without being harsh on my skin.
Just because you feel like nothing is working doesn’t mean you should give up on hope.
@skinwithalisha @clearlybasics helped maintain my skin after accutane and honestly their products have helped so many, I get many DM’s thanking me for recommending clearly basics and how it’s helped them.
If I knew about @clearlybasics prior to accutane I would’ve definitely gone with using Clear Out for sure!
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Clear Out different from other products that claim to clear pores?
- Medical-Grade: The Clear Out uses USP certified (usp.org) ingredients. These ingredients are more expensive but far more effective.
- Multiple Actives: The Clear Out has three active ingredients which have been carefully balanced so that each ingredient works together to address clogged pores on acne prone skin. This means that with lower concentrations (less side effects), we will generate better results. This is particularly important for retinol as most countries have a maximum threshold of 2% retinol for over the counter medication. We amplify the effectiveness of retinol by pairing it up with other ingredients.
- Transparency: Clearly has a money back guarantee on its product and we are confident that you will see a noticeable decrease in clogs after your first bottle of Clear Out. Also, Clearly keeps the reviews section of its Facebook Page open. You can see that the reviews are from real users who have used our products. Most peer brands have shut down the reviews section of their pages or have directed their reviews to a website where they can filter and show only the good reviews.
How do I apply the Clear Out?
- Wash your face for the evening and pat dry. Wait 3 minutes before applying the Clear Out
- Apply a pea-sized pump of Clear Out AFTER cleansing and toning but BEFORE other night creams
- Start the Clear Out with alternate nightly application. This gives your skin time to adjust to the strength of the formulation. Step up to nightly application after one week if no lasting irritation occurs
- The Clear Out packs quite a punch. As such, avoid using products which contain AHAs or BHAs until your skin has adjusted and you are not experiencing irritation
- During the day, use a non-comedogenic facial sunscreen with SPF+30 if you are going outdoors
How often do I apply the Clear Out?
Can I use these products alongside my other skincare products?
If the Clear Out is too drying, most users will apply the Moisturizer after applying the Clear Out. If the Clear Out is too strong, apply the Moisturizer before applying Clear Out. This should only be done for two weeks until your skin adjusts and we can then step up by applying the Clear Out first before the Moisturizer.
Can I use this product if I have sensitive skin?
Can I use this product if I have oily skin?
What do I do about acne scars?
Can I use this product if I am trying to conceive, breastfeeding or pregnant?
If you are pregnant and you ingest the Clear Out, there is a miniscule chance that retinol could cause birth defects. As such, consult your doctor if using the Clear Out while pregnant. There has been no documented case of birth defects amongst pregnant mothers who used topical retinol.
The Clear Out can also be used by men in all stages of life.
I am getting new breakouts while using the Clear Out. Should I discountinue use?
Get through the purge and by week eight, it’s smooth sailing! You will turn over a new layer of skin with less clogs. Every bottle is designed to last 3 months so you should see this turnover and improved results by the end of your first bottle.
Can I use the Clear Out for rosacea, psoriasis, cystic or nodular acne?
Will certain skin conditions make the purge worse?
Can I use Clear Out on my back or body?
How can I tell the difference between a reaction and a purge
- A rash or breakout caused by a reaction/allergy would show up within the first day whereas a purge would take at least several days before surfacing.
- A breakout caused by a reaction would surface even on areas where you typically do not have acne. If you are applying the Clear Out on your whole face and only getting breakouts where you normally get pimples, this is likely a normal purge.
- If the breakouts you are getting are itchy 10 minutes after applying the Clear out, discontinue use.
